All transient fixed wing aircrew are required to remain in close proximity of their aircraft and are not permitted to leave the flight line for any reason. No unloading/loading capability exists for AN-26, AN-32, AN-72 and AN-74 aircraft, unloading aircraft via crane is not permitted. Exception is for Supreme Aviation AN-26, AN-32 and AN-72 and AN-74 aircraft. Any question's contact Salerno MCT at DSN 318-851-0226.

Numerous obstacles exist within close proximity of the landing zone:

  1. 6ft high HESCO barrier (unlit) with 2ft fence extension (8ft total) located 300 ft west of the THR 09.
  2. concrete jersey barriers (unlit) located NW side of RWY at midfield 183ft from centerline.
  3. 8ft high fence (unlit) located 90ft south side of landing zone.
  4. 8ft high fence, tree and barrier (unlit) located 800ft east of RWY 27.
  5. 80ft antenna array (IR lit) located north side of landing zone adjacent to THR 09.
  6. 100ft unlit obstacle located 630ft north of RWY at midfield (new control tower construction)
  7. 120ft tower located between Salerno and Khost/Chapman.

All aircrews use caution for bird activity. Large flocks of birds from surface to 2000 ft AGL. Bird activity is especially prevalent in the areas located within one NM of the airfield. Inform Salerno tower of any observed bird activity.

Use Caution Khost (OAKS)/ Chapman airfield RWY 06/24, located 1.75NM S-SW of Salerno. Tower LOC BTW Chapman and Salerno 120 ft high.

Parallel drainage ditches approx 2-4 ft deep, on both sides of runway. Ditches are approximately 60 feet either side of runway centerline.

Landing zone closed during "wet" conditions. Aircrew should contact airfield management at DSN 318-851-0026 for current field condition.

First 652 ft RWY 09, AM-2 matting; Rotary landings authorized on AM-2 matting ONLY, when RWY is wet and closed.
